Engaging in Education to Make a Difference

This weeks’s CTP meeting will focus on Education and how you can engage in the “system” to impact the young minds of students in our schools both locally and across the state.

First up we will have several principals and other school officials to talk with us on how you can personally engage in the lives of our area students. You will be provided with clear opportunities to step up and impact our area schools for good, one life at a time.

Our second segment will feature a presentation and update on Common Core by John M. Anthony. As you know, two weeks ago grassroots activism by Liberty and Tea Party groups from across the state played a major role in defeating Governor Haslam’s Insure TN plan that would have extended Obamacare in Tennessee. However, fresh from that defeat, Governor Haslam has redoubled his commitment to permanently entrench Common Core in Tennessee’s educational system.

As a result, John Anthony will remind us of what is at stake if Common Core is not rejected and permanently repealed in Tennessee. John will also provide us with a simple Action Plan that each of us can implement to enable our one voice to join with thousands of others across our state to reject Common Core once and for all.

Our meeting will be held this Thursday at 6:30pm at the usual location: the Century Club Banquet Hall, 3221 Harrison Pike (off Access Road, just south of the Highway 153-Amnicola Highway intersection, next to the Lighting Gallery).
